Questions, answered
Is my salary information anonymous?
Publicly, yes. Your entry is stored with your account so you can see and update it, but everywhere else salaries only appear as group statistics of 3 or more people. Your name, your employer and your individual figure are never shown.
Can my employer find out I shared my salary?
Not from WorthMap. Individual entries are never published, and a group is only shown once it has at least 3 people. Company pages show a count of entries, not salaries, and keep the exact count hidden until there are at least 5.
How do you verify submissions?
Every entry is checked against the market when it's submitted. If it's within 50% of the median for the same role and level, it's verified straight away. If it's further out, or outside the accepted salary range, it's held until our team reviews it. Only verified entries count in the benchmarks.
Do I need to create an account to see salary benchmarks?
No. Median salaries by role, level and work type are public on the Salaries page, and the "Where do you sit?" check on the homepage compares your pay with no account. Adding your own salary gets you a personal dashboard that compares you with your exact group.
How is the benchmark calculated?
We take verified entries for the same job title, level and work type and report the median, plus the 25th and 75th percentiles: the range the middle half of people earn. Recent entries count more than older ones. If a group is too small, your dashboard falls back to all designers at your level and says so.
Is WorthMap free to use?
Yes, WorthMap is completely free. You contribute your salary data and in return get full access to benchmarks, percentile comparisons, career progression data, and remote vs. on-site gap analysis — at no cost.
